Five on Friday: Crawling Babies And Christmas Parties

December 9, 2016 By Lauren

1) Christmas Decor

In case you missed it, I shared a few fun pics of our Christmas decorations in Monday’s post.  I love how warm and inviting our house feels at Christmas and it was fun to snap a few pictures to share with you all.  Can you spot my favorite pop of red in this picture?

2) Our Small Group Christmas Party

We hosted our small group’s annual Christmas party last weekend and it was so much fun.  We did a little gift exchange with the theme red, white, or blue, and we cracked up because almost every gift was wine related or coffee related.  We seem to share the same interests in this group of ours! We spent the rest of the night playing games and having great conversations and it made me oh so grateful for this group of people I get to share life with.

3) Crawling Babies

Little man is officially on the move! Granted what he’s doing is more of a scoot/army crawl, but he reaches out his arms, wiggles that little booty and those silly little legs, and does all he can to get to whatever item he’s got his sights set on! He’s thankfully still not very fast, but I know that will change overnight so baby-proofing is on our must-do list for these next couple weeks.  I sure do love seeing this kiddo grow and learn new skills!

4) Cold, Cold Days

Welp, it is officially winter in KC and this week was cooooold.  Daily walks are one of the things that keep me sane as a stay-at-home mama and I’m curious how that will work once it’s too cold to get outside.  Two mornings this week I dressed Caleb in thick fleece PJs, strapped him to me, wrapped my big maternity winter coat around both of us, then took him and Olive out for at least a 15-20 minute walk. It may not be much but it keeps mama and the dog sane, so that’s something right? Now that the temps in the morning are in the teens, even that isn’t an option so we’ll have to figure something else out soon.

We also had our first snow this week! Granted it was barely more than a dusting but it’s fun to see the change of the seasons.  We stayed snuggled up inside the whole day, although we did eat lunch by the kitchen window so we could watch the snow fall and see our yard turn the prettiest frosted white!

5) A Rock Star Daddy

I think I’ll end this week by giving a shoutout to my awesome husband.  It’s amazing the difference in my days when he’s home and around and I love that his presence is a source of joy in our house.  He is so sweet and silly with Caleb and I love the giggles that he gets out of our little guy.  Parenting isn’t easy but I’m so glad I get to share it with him.  And yes, he is growing out his hair into a man bun.  So….there’s that.  (Insert eye roll here).
